Here you can see some of photographer Jim Homes' intimate photographs taken in and around NCA programs to assist the Akha people of northern Laos.Luang Namtha province in northern Laos.

(Above) In this Akha community a girl uses the small library that helps children read the Lao language, and a poster on the wall lists the rules of use. This is an active target village in the NCA program area where education and literacy are vital components. Phangoa village, Sub District Sobloi, Long District, Luang Namtha province.

(Above) A member of the NCA Akhawood Peer Educator team talks with Akha women as the team visits a minority village to inform and educate people on STI issues. In Phangoa village, livestock are vaccinated against disease. This farmer has received a coolbox for vaccines as part of the NCA livelihoods and trade program in the area, and is doing the rounds among his neighbours to ensure all animals have been treated.
