What is Gender Based Violence

GBV is an umbrella term for any harmful act that is perpetuated against a person's will and that is based on socially ascribed gender differences, like power inequalities between women and men.

The vast majority of the affected of GBV are girls and women, but also boys and men might also be affected. They might suffer from stigma and discrimination that can be different from girls and women.
