The Norwegian Church Aid’s Emergency Roster contains various profiles of personnel needed in emergency and humanitarian situations. Whether deployed directly to NCA’ s operations or seconded to field offices, ACT Alliance partners or UN agencies, our skilled personnel are committed to making a difference when it’s needed the most.
About us
The Emergency Roster consists of a diverse pool of approximately 90 members, who are ready to respond to emergencies that arise. Group members have expertise within the following areas:
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
- Finance
- Coordination and Management
- Logistics and Administration
- Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS)
- Humanitarian Coordinators / Head Of Mission
- Gender Based Violence (GBV)
- Security
Training & Deployment
All new roster members must undergo both induction and security training before deployment. Furthermore, members will have the opportunity to attend thematic tranings tailored to equip them with the necessary skills for fieldwork. Additionally, members will receive quarterly newsletters.
In the event of an emergency, roster members must be able to facilitate a quick departure. NCA offers a range of departure schedules – from 72 hours to three weeks. Deployments typically vary from three months to eleven months, with three months as an average.

The NCA Emergency Roster is open for applications when specific profiles are needed. When applications are open, positions will be posted on our electronic recruitment portal in Recman. Please be aware that we only consider online applications submitted through this portal
One must have a very good oral and written communication skills in English, and it is an advantage if one can also speak French, or Arabic.

Frequently asked questions
NCA’s Emergency Roster seeks candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience from the humanitarian sector, preferably in a complex conflict environment.
Currently the recruitments are targeted towards external candidates who are not affiliated with NCA.
On average the recruitment process lasts 8 weeks.
Shortlisting: After reviewing all applications, selected candidates may be asked to complete a written test.
Initial Interview: Candidates who pass the test will be invited to an online interview, where we assess both technical skills and motivation for joining the roster.
Further Assessment: Those who advance will complete a personality assessment and participate in a second online interview, which focuses on the assessment results.
Reference Checks: Candidates moving forward will be asked to provide two references—one from a former manager and one from a colleague—before a final decision is made.
Throughout the process, applications will receive timely feedback on their application and status.
