NCA Lenten Campaign filled the streets of Norway

Thousands of volunteers took part in NCA’s annual fundraising campaign by collecting money all over Norway on March 22.-24.

The Lenten Campaign is Norwegian Church Aid’s largest fundraising campaign, with approximately 40,000 volunteer fundraisers from 1,200 Norwegian congregations going door to door across the country to collect donations for our work. This year, the main campaigning days were March 22.-24.

The Lenten Campaign is Norway’s second-largest door-to-door fundraising campaign after the national TV campaign. The money goes to Norwegian Church Aid’s work.

Deeply grateful

“I am deeply grateful to all the volunteers across the country who has taken the time to collect money for NCA’s work. We know that congregations put an enormous amount of work into the Lenten Campaign for several weeks and months in advance and during the campaign days,” says Anne Cecilie Kaltenborn, secretary general of NCA.

Since 1967, church congregations across Norway have participated and supported the Lenten Campaign. Confirmands are very central contributors to the campaign. Volunteers all over Norway go door-to-door and use other creative forms of collecting money.

In the streets of Oslo, staff from NCA collected money at central hubs on Tuesday March 24.

Clean water

Funds from the Lenten Campaign support both emergency relief in crises and long-term development work aimed at reducing suffering and poverty worldwide. In 2025, the campaign raised 36 million NOK (3.7 million USD). The final campaign results from 2026 won’ t be known until later, but you can track them on the Lenten Campaign website.

The funds are not earmarked for specific projects but support various parts of our work around the world.

The campaign has a particular emphasis on access to clean water and the enormous ripple effects this creates for individuals and communities. Nearly 800 million people worldwide live without access to clean water.

Water is a key part of NCA’s work, both in emergency response and long-term assistance.
