Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan are just some of the humanitarian crises around the world where Norwegian Church Aid is present. Here is an overview of many of the crises we are responding to.

In the remote villages of Zata District, clean water has long been more than a basic need - it has been a lifeline repeatedly disrupted by years of conflict. When the only community water points collapsed, families were forced back to unsafe river sources, exposing them to illness and deepening daily hardship. Yet within this challenging landscape, stories of resilience and collective determination have emerged. Through the support of OCHA’s Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund and the efforts of Norwegian Church Aid, communities like Addis Mender and Addis Ketema are reclaiming access to safe water - and with it, a renewed sense of dignity, health, and hope.

How small WASH support is helping families in North Ethiopia rebuild daily life after drought and conflict.

Across four refugee camps in Jewi, Terkidi, Kule, and Nguenyyiel in the Gambella Region of Ethiopia, 150 refugee households have just completed their first large-scale maize harvest from the crops they have sown three months prior.

In partnership with Norad, NCA drove progress in humanitarian aid, climate resilience, gender equality, and health, strengthening Norway’s footprint where the needs are the greatest.

Across 17 countries, lives are being transformed, led by local communities, faith actors, and civil society champions. With support from Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), women are claiming their space in decision-making, youth are leading peacebuilding efforts, and communities are finding new ways to lift themselves out of poverty.
