3. Global Programmes for Increased Quality

3. Global Programmes for Increased Quality

NCA’S GLOBAL STRATEGY (2011-2015) HAS 5 STRATEGIC PRIORITIES:

  • Right to Peace and Security
  • Gender Justice
  • Economic Justice
  • Climate Justice
  • Right to Water and Health

In NCA’s international cooperation, these strategic priorities were further defined in twelve concrete global programmes (ref. figure below). The concept of global programme was introduced to increase programme quality, achieve better results for rights-holders and improve documentation and reporting on results at country and global levels.

Each global programme was comprised of a group of programmes at the country level. To strengthen the quality of the global programmes, each country was asked to select a maximum of three strategic priorities and five global programmes for the period. Thematic concentration was prioritised to facilitate the advancement of skills and expertise amongst NCA staff and to improve the quality of the accompaniment provided to partners. Communities of Practice (CoPs), consisting of country office programme staff and Head Office thematic advisors, were established under each strategic priority as a tool for programme development and learning.

This chapter presents selected results from the 12 global programmes, along with an assessment of the achievement of global programme outcomes in 2015 - the final year of the strategic period.
