After running a pilot-program in Tanzania from 2015 to 2018, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is now in the scale-up phase in both Tanzania and Malawi. The project intends to facilitate access to affordable and highly profitable investments, i.e. micro investments.
After running a pilot-program in Tanzania from 2015 to 2018, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is now in the scale-up phase in both Tanzania and Malawi. The project intends to facilitate access to affordable and highly profitable investments, i.e. micro investments. By offering reasonably priced micro investment kits that includes irrigation equipment, seeds, and fertiliser, local farmers are enabled to increase their farming productivity. In addition to providing training to the farmers, agronomists follow up to ensure best practice. With the profits they earn from their crops, the farmers can invest in additional investment kits, which will enable them to scale up their business additionally.
Drip irrigation is at the core of these investments. Small drip kits that are affordable and easy to use for the farmers. The name of the solution promoted by NCA is the “Veggie Bed”. A 16 m x 1 m meter raised irrigated vegetable bed with two drip lines, connectors, and 3 m feed pipe. For picture, see Figure 1.
The impact as well as the project is growing and Norwegian Church Aid is looking to scale up the project and is interested in entering into a framework agreement for equipment that is necessary for the water irrigation system, either in bulk or “kit’ified”.
As a first step in this process, Norwegian Church Aid invites qualified suppliers of one or several of the following goods to respond to this advertisement. Suppliers who have responded to this advertisement and provided the required information may be invited to participate in the procurement procedure for the relevant goods.
The initial procurement will be for 20 000 kits and will likely continue at the same scale or higher. When NCA enters new countries, it might trigger an initial smaller order, followed by potential larger procurements, in line with the growth in the country.

In addition, NCA is interested in approximate prices for the requested equipment. This price should include the cost of the requested 20 000 kits (broken down to the price for each product), plus shipment in container to Malawi and Tanzania (separate price for each destination).
