What happened: NCA received allegations of fraud and irregularities through our complaints channel.
What did we do: NCA examined the claims through dialogue and documentation in order to establish if there was a basis for the allegations. For strategic and thematic reasons, NCA had already decided to end the partnership before the complaint was received. An internal investigation was carried out by senior finance staff from NCA’s head office in Oslo. No documentation of fraud and irregularities could be established. Insufficient documentation resulted in a repayment to MFA of NOK 155 329 which is claimed towards the organization.
What did we learn: There can be several motivations behind a complaint and it is therefore very important to do a solid initial analysis of claims before deciding on further actions.
