Created in God's Image Gender Transformation toolkit for women and men i Churches, has been developed with the support of NCA.
In 2013, NCA supported the development of the Created in God’s Image Gender Transformation toolkit for women and men in Churches in order to assist councils of churches together with churches in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region to start up and strengthen conversations, discussions and dialogues on gender justice. The toolkit in 2015 added two new Modules on Masculinity and on Sexual identity/LGBTI. This completes processes that NCA has been working on under its Gender Justice Programme.
The toolkit not only assists the churches to address issues in the communities, but it is also meant for use internally within the churches. The toolkit came as the result of previous Gender Audits in the Churches conducted between 2008/2009 by NCA and partners particularly in Angola, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho and South Africa. The Gender Audit looked at church doctrines to assess the extent to which they promote or undermine gender equality in the church. The findings and recommendations of the audit led to the development of the Gender toolkit to address issues of gender inequalities.
